Meditation

To be present will help us in so many situations in life. If we learn to choose how to think and only use the mind for what we want, there will be a lot less suffering in us. Most of us know how annoying our minds can be. Judging ourselves, judging others, judging our surroundings, or just giving negative views on what we see. Instead of truly seeing what is, we often see through the mind because the mind is giving us feedback based on the past. Situations are happening to us and the mind is reacting as it has in similar situations we have experienced before. It is using autopilot to be more efficient. Mastering this behaviour is important and greatly beneficial.

Breathwork Breathwork can be described as a portal and door to our internal and external worlds. In one session you can give space, expansion, and opportunity for shifts, movement, insights, and change. You have the chance to come back to your body that holds you so dearly and works non-stop so that you may exist here and now. It's one of our body's most self-evident functions. Regulated by our autonomic nervous system, it functions without our intervention and is often ignored. The breath significantly impacts our mental health and physical well-being. The Conscious Connected Breath can be described as an active meditation that helps to reduce the chatter in the mind and release emotion through the practice of this physical breathing technique. It gives you a chance to come back to your body, which holds us so dearly together and works non-stop so that we can exist here and now. It is beautiful and nourishing to do this in a group setting.

Martina Drechsel

Instructor

Martina’s purpose in life is to share, support and give. Her intention is to empower people through breathwork and yoga so they can rise up and see their own purpose and truth. She is a 400hr Hatha yoga, 200hr Synergy yoga, and 100hr Yin yoga teacher. When she is teaching, she creates a safe and sacred space that her students can find stillness in thematic yoga sequences to reconnect with their body, mind, and soul, and feel the balance between strengthening and relaxation with breathing awareness.

She invites her students into their own greatness, offering resources to manage daily life while having some fun along the way ;-). In 2017 she fell in love with breathwork and began to discover Conscious Connected Breathing in her teacher training with Alchemy of Breath. For Martina, breathwork is one of the powerful tools where she experienced a massive shift in herself and saw happen in others. She realised the breathwork practice brings awareness to our life and the decisions we make. Awareness is the first step in CHANGE.

Location

Discover yourself in the miraculous south coast of Sri Lanka. Green Peace Inn is located directly at the beach, just a few steps from your bedroom to the sea.

Enjoy the beautiful sunsets with sea view on our roof top terrace while doing yin yoga.

This island is a magic place with beautiful green nature to find inner peace, strengthen your body with yoga, and clear your mind & body with breathwork.
Sri Lanka is the home of Ayurveda, one of the oldest healing systems, which believes wellness depends on a balance between mind, body & spirit. We will build this balance up during the week and give you the space that you need to develop it. We will nourish you with healthy vegan plant-based food, all grown locally, and if you like, receive ayurvedic treatments.

Retreat resort / centre

Our beloved Green Peace Inn, the beautiful retreat center in a small neighbourhood village of Weligama, is located directly on the beach. It's only a 1-2 minute walk until you find yourself from your room at the beautiful beach just in front of our door.

With 2 Yoga Shalas, we are equipped perfectly to the tropical weather. In the morning we will practice Yoga in our covered Shala on the first floor with a beautiful view through the greens right to the ocean.

We will enjoy the sunset yin yoga on our stunning rooftop Shala, facing the sun going down above the ocean.

We have a common café area, where we have brunch and dinner together. Also, the fruit platter is served here and people come together here to meet and chat.

On the ground floor, there lives a local family (and a happy dog :-) ) with us and we are happy to call them our family, too.

Green Peace Inn is located 20-30 min walking distance to Weligama Center (bus stand and train station), so it's out of the busy city life.

Our food-schedule is planned for providing an intermittent fasting, which means that we give our body the time to digest and clean for 14-16 hours. This supports our mind and body to clean and clear throughout the 8 days.
There's brunch at 11:00, some days savory and on some days sweet.
A fruit plate with local, fresh fruits from the local market is served at 03:00 pm.
