Green Peace Inn - Vegan Beachfront Retreat Venue
About venue
Green Peace Inn is an intimate beachfront retreat venue on the peaceful edge of Weligama Bay, created for yoga, meditation, breathwork, dance and wellness retreats.
The property accommodates up to 18 guests across 11 rooms, all with private bathrooms and most with air conditioning. Organisers can use two fully equipped practice spaces: a rooftop shala with ocean views and a sunset atmosphere, and a covered open-air shala overlooking tropical greenery.
Our experienced team provides attentive on-site support and nourishing, fine-dining-inspired cuisine that is made entirely vegan, gluten-free, and without refined sugar. Menus feature fresh, seasonal ingredients and can be adapted to the structure of your retreat.
Green Peace Inn combines privacy and tranquillity with convenient access to Weligama, nearby surf beaches and cultural destinations such as Galle. Its small scale creates a warm, personal atmosphere in which groups can connect deeply, and organisers can focus fully on their programme.

Green Peace Inn is located directly beside the Indian Ocean on the quieter edge of Weligama Bay, on Sri Lanka’s tropical south coast. The setting combines ocean views and a peaceful atmosphere with convenient access to the town of Weligama, approximately three minutes away by tuk-tuk.
Weligama’s wide sandy beach is an eight-minute walk from the venue and is one of Sri Lanka’s best-known surfing destinations, particularly for beginners and intermediate surfers. More advanced surf breaks, swimming beaches and the coastal town of Mirissa are also within easy reach.
The surrounding region offers palm-fringed coastline, tropical greenery, traditional villages and excellent day-trip opportunities. Highlights include the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort, approximately 40 minutes away, local tea plantations and Udawalawe National Park. Guests can also explore Sri Lankan markets, cafés and restaurants serving traditional rice and curry, tropical fruit and other local specialities.
Weligama has supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, cafés, a railway station and other essential services. The area is accessible by road and rail from Colombo and provides an excellent base for experiencing Sri Lanka’s southern coast.
How to get there
The nearest international airport is Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), near Colombo. The easiest way to reach Green Peace Inn is by private transfer directly from the airport. The journey to Weligama normally takes approximately 2.5–3 hours via the Southern Expressway, depending on traffic. We can arrange airport collection in advance; the current price is approximately €85 per car. Larger vehicles can be organised for groups upon request.
Guests travelling by train can take a southbound service from Colombo Fort to Weligama. The journey generally takes 3–4 hours or sometimes longer, depending on the train, followed by a short tuk-tuk ride to the venue. As schedules may change, we recommend checking the current timetable before travelling.
Expressway buses operate from the Colombo area to Galle and Matara. From either city, guests can continue to Weligama by local bus, taxi or tuk-tuk.
The venue is located at No. 57 Matara Road, Pelena, Weligama. We recommend using our shared map location rather than relying only on the written address. Guests arriving by car should contact us in advance for current parking instructions.
