About retreat

Located on the banks of the beautiful River Spey, we will be staying in tastefully decorated Victorian shooting lodges. Our yoga space is the charming Rothiemurchus Hall, a gentle and flat 15-minute stroll along what is known locally as the Ski Road, the route to the high slopes of the Cairngorm mountains. In late May this most stunning area comes alive with wildlife such as native red squirrels, red deer, and pine marten. We will offer two complimentary guided walks showing you the romantic, breathtaking scenery of the Highlands.

For those who would like to enjoy the fantastic network of cycle paths in the forests and by the lochs, there are bikes for hire onsite at our accommodation. At the beautiful Loch Morlich, you can hire canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. Experience the thrill of wild swimming in the rivers that tumble down from the hills or learn about the local history with a visit to the Higland museum in Newtonmore.

In between our morning energising yoga session and early evening relaxing, restorative yoga class, there will be plenty of free time for you to experience other activities such as: hiking, horse-riding, cycling, kayaking, tennis, paddle boarding, shopping in the Macdonald Centre in Aviemore, enjoying a steam train journey to Boat of Garten, or taking a modern railway journey to the Highland capital of Inverness, or hiring a car to explore further afield. For those wishing to stay closer to home, why not play a game of table tennis, indulge in a massage, enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of Aviemore’s eateries or a swim and lunch at the Coylumbridge Hotel. There are plenty of comfy sofas in the accommodation if you’d prefer to stay in and relax with a good book.

My love of yoga led me to complete Teacher Training with Ian Davis of OrangeYoga, Cheltenham, UK. This has been a life changing experience: yoga has taught me how to breathe, has created strength and flexibility in my body and in my mind, and helped me be kinder to myself and others, on and off the mat.
I love teaching and I love learning. As well as being a yoga teacher, I also taught English for 17 years. One of the joys of teaching is being able to connect with people and to create a supportive space for learning and playful exploration. Inspired by Vinyasa, Somatics and Restorative- I like to create classes that challenge as well as support students to be kind to themselves. Alongside mindful movement, I incorporate pranayama (breathing) practices and meditation.
