Bedouin Yoga Camp, Wadi Rum Jordan

In our camp we use mainly solar energy. Water is precious, especially in the desert and even more so in a country as water scarce as Jordan! We teach our guests and our team how to save water. We can offer accommodation for up to 40 persons (beds can be added to most oft he tents) in total 14 tents and a tent for the chef/housekeeping, 1 cozy Main Tent, that can be used as lounge and Restaurant, countless spots outside with shadow, sitting areas, a Yoga Tent, Mattresses, sleeping bags and equipment for camping. The water we use for showers and in the washrooms has to be delivered in trucks, because we are in the middle of the nature reserve. There are no water or electricity lines, so we don't have to shower every day. So leaving water running is taboo. We also clean water sparingly. We offer our guests the possibility to fill drinking water. We use the traditional method of the Bedouins and fill our drinking water into clay containers - this keeps the water nice and cool, because cooling is also a problem in the desert. We avoid plastic, wherever possible - please bring a drinking bottle. You can get one in our camp as well. We also educate the locals not to throw the trash in the nature nor burn it. With the help of the Bedouins, however, we can fall back on ancient possibilities and use everything that nature provides us with. Because of the beautiful rocks and mountains, we are home to many species of birds. There are hedgehogs, desert foxes. Camels and goats. For these animals we leave the food scraps. Our big project is new washrooms and remodeling work to channel the used water from the showers and washrooms to our valley. This is because it is wonderfully green and should be able to store more water in the future. We will also plant the first trees soon.
